WILL TRAVEL ADVISORS EVER RUN THE WORLD?

Image
Some weeks ago I looked into a post about  the difference between a travel advisor and a travel agent  on Forbes Magazine. And so far, since I decided to develop myself in becoming a Travel Advisor to create trips within Peru and then around the world, I've seen that the term and the number of people related to it are not so famous and high. Instead there are thousands of travel agents around the world, though. And the truth is that the pictures you see online when you search for the terms "travel advisor" or "travel agent" are the same, so it means that the difference is not that big, but it is actually significant. So, after reading posts and watching videos about the profession, I came with my own perceptions and conclusions about the difference -please note that I'll be highlighting more the role of the travel advisor / also called consultant  as it is my profession and (for me) it is more dedicated-, Oh, and by the way, this is about my experience as be...

SPEAK SPANISH ON YOUR NEXT TRAVEL TO PERU: CHALLENGE ACCEPTED?

Image
Ahhh, español...  One of the most popular languages in the world -having 460 million native speakers - just right after mandarin chinese, which makes it really important.. But it's just so confusing some times! ugh! ... Yeah, I got you. I mean, I totally understand you. Even if I've been speaking spanish my whole life, I seriously get confused many times with the conjugations of the verbs: yo quiero, tu quieres, el quiere, nosotros queremos, ustedes quieren.. woahh. And don't get me start with the "R" sound -really, I was born with a condition that stops me from being able to make the "rrrrrrrr" sound, but happily now at least I can pronounce well words with in-between R's. But no matter how tricky it can be for both spanish speakers and non-speakers, it is not impossible to learn, and contrary to the image above, IT DOES HAVE A LOT OF SENSE :)) . In fact, to make it interesting,   let's see it as a challenge, I mean, wouldn't you want to tra...

AFRO-PERUVIAN CULTURE MONTH: HOW THEY ENRICHED OUR HERITAGE ♥

Image
Each june of every year, Peru celebrates the Afro-Peruvian culture month, or - as I've seen on google - "Peru celebrates black history month", but let's be more specific, because probably, and different from other countries, the black peruvian populations are most likely to be descendants from the african slaves who came and adapted their habits to the burgeoisie lifestyle that had its presence in Lima. So, the africans where brought by the Spaniards in order to start working at the farms. Some time later they developed the house chores, and for instance, women found their place on the cooking field. Now, the hard thing was once they arrived to the houses of high-class people, the difference was really notable as, for example, they were not allowed to sit at the same table as their masters, or even eat the same food. They were fed with the entrails of animals, thoe parts that - back in those times - would never be eaten by "normal" people. However, this is w...

Image
Does this question sounds familiar? I bet you've heard or maybe thought about it some time. According to my research, it's one of the most frequent questions that a travelers wants to know about in order to start planning their trip to Peru and make the best of it with no hurries. Jauja, the capital before Lima To be honest, and this might be a surprising response from me to you, dear traveler, but there's no a specific time or date to come visit and enjoy Peru... I mean, as there are three different regions, 24 provinces and every one of them have different climates, for example, here in Lima during the month of february it is very hot as it's summer time, but if we go to Puno, Cusco there is going to be winter season filled with rains; on the other side we have Ticlio, one of Peru's highest points where it's cold all the time, and also at the east, in Loreto, San Martin, you can find an all-year hot weather. So, if it's the weather what concerns you, I...

Every 30th of May, Peru celebrates a very special day honouring one of its most nutritious and varied foods: The potato! I'll start with the following fact: Did you know Peru has 3,000 potato varieties between the 5,000 types that exist in the world? This post is made to bring awareness about this delicacy, a gift from the pachamama , as the incas would say. Stay here to learn about its health benefits as well as some big heroes. YAS! There are different shapes, colors, flavors... Some people say that the darker they are on the inside the healthier they are, but the truth is that each color has its own nutrients and specific characteristics. Funny story!: There was one day when my mom was cooking and she suddenly called me and told me to go to back to the farmers market because she got "bad" potatoes from the vendor, so she showed me and they had the purple color on the inside.. I was not fully convinced that they were actually bad but anyways I went so she can be more su...

THE SOONER SUCCESS OF RURAL TOURISM

Image
2020 was classified as the Rural Tourism and Development Year by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This pandemic came unexpectedly and locked us down, making us to crave more than ever to go out and see the nature, breath the air... Did you already see that? It seems like a coincidence as being 24/7 in the house is kind of increasing the worth we give to our main home: the Earth. This is Cristina Suaña, the pioneer entrepreneur who started a rural tourism project in Puno, Perú, that brought a lot of benefits to the islands' traditional communities. So, as our activities have been limited or postponed and we changed physical travel for a virtual mode temporarily, a lot of people is seeking for nature-based and rural destinations,  like in Europe . The reason why this kind of trip will become highly bookeable soon is because those places are located far from the cities, which means, far from crowds that are easily generated in supermarkets, bus stations or public buildings. Be...
